PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR COUNTY OF CRAIG
Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Craig County will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration and INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change is granted, the taxpayer or his agent, must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide substantial evidence that the property is not uniform with other similar properties or prove that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.
Applications must be received by March 15th, 2018. Appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes to minimize waiting. To appear before the Board of Equalization, please call (540)864-5010, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may also email the Board at firstname.lastname@example.org for an appointment. Meetings of the Board to hear objections will be held at the Craig County Courthouse. The dates and times are:
March 15, 2018 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
March 19, 2018 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
March 20, 2018 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Additional dates and times will be scheduled if necessary and advertised.

The regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held in the Craig County Courthouse Court Room at 6:00 pm on March 1st, 2018.
Please enter the Courthouse at the side entrance off Court Street, the Court Room is located on the Second Floor. You may use the stairs or the elevator.
The Craig County Board of Supervisors will hold a Budget Work Session during their regular Board of Supervisors meeting on March 1, 2018. This work session will include a joint work session with the Craig County School Board.
Ninth District Congressman Morgan Griffith will have a representative to hear citizen comments every month, 10 am to 12 noon every First Tuesday of the Month in the County Administrator’s Office 2nd Floor Conference room at 108 Court Street in New Castle. The public is encouraged to come by. No appointment is necessary.
