Located in the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia in a region known as the Virginia’s Western Highlands, Craig County is an enormous playground criss-crossed by Virginia Scenic Byways which wind from historic New Castle through the George Washington-Jefferson National Forest and past acres of beautiful farmland.

The more than 112,000 acres of National Forest in Craig County offer visitors an unparalleled opportunity to engage in a wide variety of outdoor adventures from fishing, hunting, birding, and primitive camping to hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Craig County is within a day’s drive of most of the American East Coast and is conveniently accessed via Interstate 81 north of Roanoke, Virginia.
